2 Man Comic Book Club

If you're looking for a good jumping on point for the X-Men, this event is your golden ticket! From the first issue of House of X , Alex and I knew we needed to cover it. We are dropped right in the middle of the action in a whole new world of X-Men. Exactly how we got here will take a few more issues to figure out.  " House of X " and " Powers of X " are two intertwined stories that work in tandem to tell this expansive story. Early on, Alex began referring to it as PHOX to save time in text conversations and it just kind of stuck. We will be covering all 12 issues of PHOX, so we hope you will follow along! If it weren't for Marvel Unlimited , it is fair to assume that this podcast would have never been started.  With these various services being such an easy way to get into comic books, we thought that it would be cool to talk through what we think of them! Marvel Unlimited is a really great service with tons of comic books and an awesome interface. We highly recommend it! DC Universe is relatively new, but it has an awesome collection of comic books, and it also has TV and Movies! (And the DC Universe Original Shows are absolutely fantastic!!) Comixology Unlimited is an absolutely fantastic service if you're looking for Indie comic books in addition to a pretty good selection of Marvel and DC titles! We also discuss a few other options. We recently took a #2ManRoadTrip to Oklahoma City to watch an NBA game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Boston Celtics. While in town we dropped by New World Comics   and picked up a few books. On the way back I had a random question for Alex so I pulled out my portable mp3 recorder and we had a quick discussion. If you had to pick one of the various superhero universes to live in, which would you pick? It's not quite as easy as "Marvel" or "DC". There is the whole multiverse angle to think through, as well as the fact that most of those universes are constantly at the brink of total annihilation! It was far from an exhaustive discussion, and I'm sure that if we had the chat again, some of our answers might be different, but regardless, it was a nice little discussion to take occupy our minds for a few minutes of the 7 hours we spent on the road that day. Batwoman is in an intense fight with Knife in a cave filled with explosives. How is she going to get out of it alive? In today's episode, we follow Kate Kane, Tahani, and Safiyah through fights, back stories, and intense storms. The story comes to a quasi-conclusion in issue 4, though with a real "to be continued" vibe. We continue covering with a little epilogue issue of #5, though it is more of a prologue where we get to see more of "The Lost Year". We absolutely had to cover this issue! It is a wonderful glimpse into Kate's past, as well as what made Tahani so mad.  It also had some of the most amazing art I've seen in a comic in a long time! In Episode 26, Alex and Drew dig into the next to issues in the first Rebirth story arc of Batwoman. There are so many mysteries that the first two issue posed. Some are answered and more are revealed. The story is really starting to pick up. We're enjoying the story and we hope you are too! The trivia rounds are heating up too!
