Drew's Gut Reaction Comic Book Rankings

So here at the 2 Man Comic Book Club, we've released 100+ podcasts about comic books, superheroes, space fights, superpowers, tv shows, and time travel. I still can't believe it! As I've worked my way through more and more comics, I've started wondering how they all stack up.

What follows is by no means a detailed examination of each comic where I weigh their merits against each other. It's exactly what the title claims... a Gut Reaction Ranking.

All I did to make this list was start with the first comic we covered on the show "X:Men - The Worst X-Man Ever" and put it at the top of the list. I moved onto the next one, "Superman: Secret Identity" and put it beneath Worst X-Man, because I liked the X-Men story more. (Can you believe that? Coming from me? A self proclaimed Superman fanboy for life!!??) I then worked through the rest of the stories we covered on the show, comparing it to the list as it stood and placing the new story where I felt it belonged based on my memory of the story. I also thought back on stories that I read on my own and tossed them into the order as well. I don't think I put anything on the list from too far before the podcast started. In fact, I think the farthest back I went was "Secret Wars (2015)", which I read right before Alex and I started the podcast. There are probably a dozen or more stories that I can't remember right now, or feel I need to reread before including them, but I'll add those to the list if and when I do.

Granted, it's highly likely that if I were to actually go back and read all of these again the order would change drastically. Also, the comics I've read recently are no doubt more accurately placed. But like I said above, this is a "gut reaction" based on my memory of the stories.

If you're wondering if I thought any of the stories were bad, I can truly say that I liked almost all of these to a certain degree. I even enjoyed those that are near the bottom of the list. But there are two comics on this list that I would be more than happy to never read again in my life, and those are the last two on the list. I'm sure as I continue to add to this list in the future, there will be more and more stories added to the "never again" portion of the list.

It's not that I haven't read bad comics over the past several years, I think it's more that if I don't like a comic I just stopped reading it and forgot about it, so it doesn't make it onto the list. I'll try to make note of that going forward by adding them to the bottom of the list in a "didn't bother to finish" category.

You may notice that some are included in the list even though I didn't finish reading them. I opted to include those because regardless of the fact that I didn't finish reading the run, they were good enough that I want to include them. When I eventually go back and finish them, I'll revise their placement on the list if necessary.

Well, I think that's it.

So without further ado (or whatever the phrase is supposed to be), here is my list as it stands on February 2nd, 2022.
